A message from Dr. Graczyk:

I am writing to provide an update about Acme Elementary

The Power Company has been working on site since this afternoon. Unfortunately, as of 9 o'clock tonight, there is still no power, and there is a possibility that power may not be restored in time for school.

We understand that this situation is not ideal and can be quite frustrating. We will send an update before 6 AM to let you know if school is closed with a flexible instruction day or a regular school day. We appreciate your patience and recognize how challenging this must be for all of you.

Athletic Physicals & Family ID

Springdale Jr-Sr High School is pleased you have decided to play for the Dynamos and hope you have an enjoyable experience this season.  Being part of a team has many benefits and rewards. Student-athletes learn the importance of integrity, respect, discipline, hard work, and how to deal with success and overcome adversity. Not only do these lessons build good character and confidence, but they are also the most significant results of participating in high school sports. What's more, skills and abilities developed on the field, on court, or in the gymnasium are lifelong lessons easily applied in the classroom and workplace and help young people become a positive influence in the community. Participating in Pennsylvania's interscholastic athletics program requires certain mandatory procedures and rules as set forth by the PIAA and the Allegheny Valley School District.

Physicals

Sports physicals are offered yearly by the high school and scheduled by the school nurse.  Any student entering grades 7-12, who is interested in playing a school sport during the respective school year, needs to have a physical. Allegheny Valley School District offers sports physicals free of charge. The physicals will be accepted for any sport, any season, for the upcoming school year and are a courtesy extended to the athletes of the Allegheny Valley School District. Parents may also choose to take their child to their physician for this physical.  All students will be expected to follow all guidelines outlined.

Family ID

The Allegheny Valley SD offers the convenience of online registration for Springdale Jr-Sr High School sports programs through our partner company, FamilyID (www.familyid.com). FamilyID is a secure registration platform that provides an easy, user-friendly way to register for athletic programs and helps with administrative efficiency and environmental responsibility. When a child is registered, the information will only have to be entered once. All athletes must register for all sports they will be playing during the school year (fall, winter, and spring sports).

If you have problems registering on FamilyID, please contact FamilyID support at 1-781-205-2800 prompt 1. Please remember that you will STILL be required to complete Sections 5 (Health History) and 6 (PIAA Comprehensive Initial Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation and Certification of Authorized Medical Examiner - this exam is the actual physical performed by the doctor). Both forms need to be completed, signed, dated, and uploaded after June 1 or before the season in which your son/daughter will be playing. The physical must be signed and dated June 1 or later and will be effective, regardless of when performed during a school year, until May 31 of the following year. The physical can be uploaded when you complete the online registration on the FamilyID site. When the physical is uploaded to the online registration, you will not need to submit a hard copy or original to the office; the electronic copy suffices.
