Personal Interviews
- Selected candidates will be initially interviewed and assessed by District staff members.
- Following the initial interview, selected candidates may be invited to return for an additional interview.Those candidates who are selected to move through the interview process will have the opportunity to demonstrate skills specific to the role for which they are seeking.
- The final step in the process for all potential professional candidates will include an interview with the Superintendent.
Letters of Recommendation
Recent letters of recommendation from a minimum of three individuals who can attest to the professional competency of the candidates and one individual who can provide a character reference must be provided for employment consideration. The written references must reflect outstanding professional competency and excellent character for employment consideration.
Approval Process
Following success in the initial interview process, the name(s) of the successful candidate(s) will be submitted to the School Board for approval. Voting meetings of the Board are held on the third Monday of the month, unless otherwise stated. After Board approval is received, new hires will be required to visit the Central Office to complete paperwork necessary for employment. A position will be offered conditionally to a candidate subject to the approval of the Allegheny Valley School Board, receipt of clearances, and successful completion of a physical examination and drug screening, reference checks, and verification of documents. The physical examination and drug screening will be the responsibility of the candidate with the cost of the drug screening (and physical, if performed by the District's doctor) paid by the District.

Administrative Positions
Requirements:
The following items should be sent to the District when applying for employment.

- Three clearances – Criminal Record Check (Act 34), Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151), and FBI Federal Criminal History Clearance (Act 114) – All clearances must be within the last 60 months.
- Tuberculin Test Results (less than 2 years old)
Along with the following:
- Cover letter that states the position for which you are applying.
- A copy of your resume
- A copy of transcripts (up-to-date)
- NTE scores
- PA Professional Certificate
- Letters of recommendation
Applicants should possess the following:
- Strong academic preparation with a high grade point average (3.0 overall, on a 4.0 scale is preferred)
- Pennsylvania Level II Professional Certificate (multiple areas of certification are preferred)
- Demonstrated expertise in technology
Faculty Positions
The Allegheny Valley School District accepts paper application packets for professional positions. All candidates for professional positions should include in his/her packet:

Coaching/Student Activity Sponsor/Volunteer Positions
Requirements:

All persons working for pay or as unpaid (volunteer) coaches, sponsors, or volunteers must be approved by the Superintendent and/or Board of School Directors. Please submit letter of interest, resume, and clearances listed above. Volunteer coaches must complete a Volunteer Coach Application through the Athletic Director's Office. Program Volunteers should meet with building administrators for any additional information they may need to become part of the extra-curricular program.
