Acmetonia Academics
Acmetonia Elementary School is made up of Pre-Kindergarten through grade 6. The academic program is serviced through a self-contained classroom model, where students are nurtured through their early-developmental years. The building incorporated a Full-Day Kindergarten program in the fall of 2004. This program supports and enhances the entry-level instructional program. A Title I program supports the needs of students who are experiencing difficulty in reading development. In addition, a Pre-Kindergarten Program was added in 2019 to expand the District’s commitment to education by building a solid foundation for young students. A state-certified teacher staffs the class to help all students achieve success. Acmetonia students also have an opportunity to experience special subject areas, which include library, art, music, physical education, and health. A guidance counselor provides students with services in the areas of social development and/or individual counseling needs.
In grades 4-6, the educational programs are departmentalized where students move among teachers for their required courses - Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, & Science. The building hosts a variety of special-subject teachers including a guidance counselor allows staff to plan to better meet student needs across discipline areas. In addition, at this age-level students have the opportunity to explore areas of music, including both instrumental and vocal, along with becoming part of team-related and governmental activities.
