1-4-22: On December 27, 2021, the CDC changed its guidance for Isolation and Quarantine due to COVID 19. As long as a person who has received a positive COVID-19 test is asymptomatic or symptoms are improving (and fever-free for 24 hours), he/she may return to work or school after 5 days of isolation. He/she must wear a mask for the next 5 days.
Similarly, those exposed to the virus that causes COVID-19 may quarantine for 5 days, and test. They may then return to work or school with a mask for the next 5 days. If they were:
- completely vaccinated with a Pfizer or Moderna (mRNA) within the last 6 months
- or with the J&J shot in the past 2 months
- or are vaccinated and boostered (3 shots in an mRNA vaccine or 2 with a viral vector – J&J)
they are exempt from quarantine and may continue working or learning masked, and test at 5 days.
